03.05.08 A Carolina Reunion (in all sorts)
Well as you have seen, it has been awhile since the last PanthersZone Blog, almost a month in fact.  I haven't been feeling very well and haven't been able to write up a blog.  And no it's not because I'm lazy.  But I'm feeling much better now and we are going to continue where we left off.  And seeing as I am back now, this is one part of the Carolina Reunion!
The Carolina Panthers have brought back one of my favorite players in Panthers History.  Muhsin Muhammad signed with the Panthers on February, 28 2008 after he and the Panthers agreed on an undisclosed amount.  This move will make a big difference in the offense for the Panthers in 2008, not in that Muhsin will help with big numbers (which I think he will be able to do) but he should be the prefect mentor for 2nd year wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett.  Having a similar playing style this should be a perfect fit.  This gives the Panthers a better option than the aging Keyshawn Johnson the Panthers brought to the team in 2006.  Even though Muhammad is not getting younger, he has been with the Panthers and knows the environment here.  He'll provide veteran leadership on and off the field.  Something the Panthers have been missing for a couple years.  And just the fact that the offensive trio that took the Panthers to their first Super Bowl is back together also gives me goose bumps.  MOOOOOSE the crowd once cheered, and MOOOOOSE they will cheer again.

01.24.08 Dan Morgan Needs to be gone!:
So I heard the other day that Dan Morgan wouldn't mind playing a different position so that Jon Beason can play Middle Linebacker.  As much as that sounds like such a team guy, I don't know how beneficial it would be for the Carolina Panthers to keep him.  I would not consider him by any means a dependable starter at any position.  We have all the linebacker spots filled by "starting material" players in Jon Beason, Thomas Davis, and Na'il Diggs.  And unless he can play Free Saftey or D-Line, I don't think there is a starting spot on this team for him.  And as much as I like Morgan, I really don't see him as a reliable backup to any position as well.  Not saying we have backups with his talent, but the ones we have have been consistently healthy (Seward is a Jr. Dan Morgan).  Just think, if the Panthers lose their starting Weakside Linebacker, we'll be replacing him with a potential liablity in Dan Morgan leaving us in two bad spots instead of the original injury.  Now, I do belive in having loyalty to veterans and all that good stuff, but there is just a time when ties need to be cut and paths need to divide.  I have always felt that the release of Will Witherspoon and the extention signing of Dan Morgan was a mistake by the Head Honchsos there in Bank of America Stadium.  I don't know if i'll ever get over the fact that the Panthers could have had a Witherspoon, Beason, Davis combination.  But I can't linger on that, instead I'll just wait to linger on the angry feeling when the Carolina Panthers decide to keep Dan Morgan for another year.  And I don't think I'll be alone this time around.
